Greetings fellow broadcasters! First off, let me say that I hope our new lunch meeting time of 1 PM will allow/encourage those of you who may have been involved in noon-time station happenings to attend our SBE 66 monthly meetings. The more input we have from everyone the better we will be able to address issues and share ideas to keep our “ships” air-worthy. more…
It was great to see all of you at the big dinner feast at Luna’s on the first. Thanks for your vote(s) of confidence in reinstalling Tom Whitlock and myself as the SBE66 chair and vice-chair. Steve Dresser will continue as the Chapter’s Secretary-Treasurer doing his usual stellar job. Join us for the February meeting on the 29th. we are returning to the banquet room at Mitsui in Clovis, details in this Newsletter. As always bring along any broadcasting questions and concerns for us to address. See you there.
It’s again time for our favorite SBE get-together at Luna’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria in Clovis. SBE Chapter 66 will host a great Italian dinner for members and guests. This is also the month we elect/re-elect/railroad the Chapter officers. It has been a pleasure to serve as Chapter Chairman, but no doubt you’ll want to see some new faces at the helm (hint-hint), so bring your nominees to the event. Perhaps you would like to become a Chapter officer? It can be rewarding–ask me how I know. Come and join us for great food and fellowship. Bring your broadcasting stories (woeful and wonderful) from 2023 and your ideas and suggestions for 2024. See you all there on Thursday night. Remember we are beginning the festivities at 6PM since Lunas Restaurant now closes at 8PM. more…
As usual we had great weather up at Meadow Lakes for the Picnic. Thanks to Ken Holden and crew for the tasty BBQ and also to those of you who brought the other goodies to fill our plates. Our San Joaquin Valley indian summer will most likely be short-lived as temperatures are dropping, days are getting shorter and the time change will soon be upon us. more…
Well, it’s that time of the year again. No, not the end of Summer, but time for the annual SBE BBQ at the Meadow Lakes Picnic area. This is one of my favorite gatherings, as it gives me the opportunity to meet and greet friends and family of my fellow broadcast engineers. If you are planning to make the drive up the hill for the first time, click —HERE– for directions.
It appears that the unusually cool weather of June 2023 has come to an end. Welcome back to the real Central Valley in June/July August. Hopefully you have all things air conditioning running smoothly and are ready for the onslaught of heat. Some of you had commented that it was time for a change of venue for the lunch meetings, so we’re going to return to George’s restaurant in Fresno for our gatherings. If you’ve never been there, you can click on the photo at the top of the Newsletter to bring up a map and information. more…
Hello everyone. I hope the month of May has treated you well.
Our meeting for this month will again be a no host lunch at the Mitsui buffet in Clovis. I will not be able to attend due to a prior commitment at KVPT. However, our vice-chairman Mr. Tom Whitlock will step in to get things rolling, thanks Tom. As always, bring any questions or suggestion to the gathering and I’ll see you in June.
Thanks to our friends at the NBT 23 Media Tours for a great presentation and lunch during the March meeting. For our April gathering we will return to the Mitsui buffet in Clovis on Thursday, April 27th. As always, bring any broadcasting question/concerns fro us to discuss.
