It has been said that: nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.  I seem to have no problem proving this as I wander around the TV station. Setting off an alarm with an errant click of a mouse is a daily occurrence for me.

I know how a little kitten must feel, as I’m constantly getting lost up some menu tree—someone please call the fire department!  The phrases, “I think we’re going to need a refeed . .” and “I hope we can get a make-good for that spot!”  are definitely at the top of my vocabulary these days.

I’m really missing those not-so-long-ago times when the film chain was spooling the celluloid onto the Telecine floor.  At least I could look down and see exactly where the problem was.  Better yet, I could fix it.  Yep, no mouse clicks, no menu trees, no panic calls to the IT department.    Welcome to the 21st century.  Instead of:  No User Serviceable Parts Inside, the sign now reads:  No User Serviceable Part–ANYWHERE!  Now that’s progress.

The broadcast and wireless antenna company, Dielectric has begun letting customers know that it plans to get out of the radio, television and wireless antenna business.  The broadcast and wireless antenna company, which did have a booth on the recent NAB Show floor, will continue to operate in a limited capacity through the end of June. Its primary focus will be on completing outstanding orders while also conducting the necessary steps to close the business.

The FCC has released its report card to the public on the results of the nationwide EAS test, held on November 9, 2011.  The 19 page document (read it here) closes with the FCC declaring the test a success, with several areas in need of improvement.

Some possible good news for those of you whose SBE certifications have expired.  For a limited time, SBE is offering a chance to reinstate expired certifications.  Read about it here.

You may have noticed that our meeting information has been updated.  Yes, we’re still at the Clovis HomeTown buffet for a hosted lunch with Rohde & Schwarz.  Walt Gumbert is now our speaker, discussing high efficiency technology for medium and high power solid state transmitters.  I hope you can join us at noon on Thursday April 25th at the HomeTown Buffet in Clovis.  We’ll be in the back banquet room.
