I would like to thank Todd Lopes and our friends at Ventura Broadcasting Company for making our November pre-Thanksgiving meeting at KVPT a big success. Our attendance always seems to be a bit better when we can provide a meal–imagine that!  more…

This month’s gathering of the Central Valley SBE group will be Thursday the 17th, a week early due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Our good friend Todd Lopes at Ventura broadcasting has arranged a special pre-Thanksgiving feast for all of us to enjoy at the meeting-thanks Todd and VBC!  We will be gathering over at Valley PBS (KVPT CH18) at 6PM on Thursday the 17th. We would like to get an attendance count to help plan the meal, so please RSVP to  me at (559) 266-1800 ext.380 or leave a message on the sbe-tech email forum. Guests are OK, just let us know. As always, bring any broadcasting question and concerns for our meeting we’ll have between all the culinary goodies. See you there.

This month’s gathering of the Central Valley SBE group will be Thursday the 30th at the Mitsui Buffet in Clovis, for a no-host lunch. I’ll be leaving you in the capable hands of SBE66 vice-chairman Tom Whitlock, as I’ll be involved with some AC must-do projects. See you all next month.

This month’s gathering of the Central Valley SBE group will be Thursday the 28th at the Mitsui Buffet in Clovis, for a no-host lunch.  I was anticipating that we might have a few weary NAB travelers at the meeting since the show was scheduled to begin a day earlier.  From the emails I’ve seen so far, it appears that many of you may still be travelling heading back to the valley as we are in progress. PBS didn’t pony up the funds for me to head out east to the show, so I’ll have to rely on those of you who were lucky enough to make it to the equipment booths for all the details. As always, please bring any local issues and concerns that you might have for us to discuss at the Thursday meeting. The staff at Mitsui would like us to pay as one group, so I’ll be collecting the lunch payments before you leave our meeting area. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Spring has sprung! This month’s gathering of the Central Valley SBE tribe will be Thursday the 31st at the Mitsui Buffet in Clovis.  Although we have no scheduled presentation, the Dog & Pony are nowhere to be found, this is always a good time to discuss any local issues and concerns that you might have. This is also the time of the year that we look forward to ‘spring cleaning ‘at our mountaintop resorts we call transmitter sites. At least that is a good excuse to get away from the office and enjoy the mountains.  If a trip up the hill is a bit long and winding, try the short trip to the Clovis Mitsui Buffet at Shaw and Minewawa this Thursday.  Great food, and the fine staff at Mitsui will do the spring clean-up–see you there. more…

It was great to see all of you at the big dinner feast at Luna’s last month. Thanks for your vote(s) of confidence in reinstalling Tom Whitlock and myself as the SBE66 chair and vice-chair. Steve Dresser will continue as the Chapter’s Secretary-Treasurer doing his usual stellar job. As the Covid-19 restrictions are beginning to be removed, hopes are that we will have more opportunities for informative meeting presenters at our monthly gatherings. Join the SBE66 crew this Thursday the 24th at the Mitsui Buffet in Clovis for our February meeting. It will be a no-host lunch beginning at noon–see you there.

2021 was yet another very interesting and challenging year for all of us broadcasters. The SBE Chapter 66 officers, myself, Tom Whitlock, Steve Dresser, and SBE Signal editor Dennis Thompson, wish you all a very Happy and prosperous 2022.

It’s again time for our favorite SBE get-together at Luna’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria in Clovis. SBE Chapter 66 will host a great Italian dinner for members and guests. This is also the month we elect/re-elect/railroad the Chapter officers. It has been a pleasure to serve as Chapter Chairman, but no doubt you’ll want to see some new faces at the helm (hint-hint). Come and join us for great food and fellowship. Bring your broadcasting stories (woeful and wonderful) from 2021 and your ideas and suggestions for 2022. See you all there on Thursday night. Remember we are beginning the festivities at 6PM since the Restaurant now closes at 8PM.

Greetings. I hope that you will be able to join us on Thursday for a special event. Our Monthly meeting will be held at the studios of Valley PBS Channel 18 KVPT-TV. We will have a short tour of the facility (I know the guy with the key!) followed by a short meeting and then a dinner. Our friends at RF Specialties (thank you Tom Driggers) have sponsored a nice Thanksgiving meal for all to enjoy. A nice way to say thank you for all that you do in the broadcast industry. We will be starting with a studio tour a little after 6:30 PM. If the front door is not open, meet at the Studio door in the front parking area (east side) on Calaveres Street. Limited parking is available in the front lot or around the back of the studio-enter using the Calaveres Street alleyway. As always, bring any questions/concerns/ideas/rants/etc. pertaining to the current state of affairs of Central Valley broadcasting. Looking forward to seeing you at KVPT.

We are again congregating at the Mitsui Buffet in Clovis for the October lunch meeting. If you’ll be spending the night at your transmitter working throughout the wee hours until the sun comes up (been there done that) it is OK to make it a breakfast meeting. Remember that the staff at Mitsui asks that you check-in at the front desk to let them know you are arriving for the SBE luncheon. We will collect payment for the food/drinks at the end of the meeting per their request. Note that you will need a face covering upon entering and when travelling to the food/drink service area. As always, bring any questions/concerns/ideas/rants/etc. pertaining to the current state of affairs of Central Valley broadcasting. We usually have plenty of room, so if you would like to bring a guest please do. more…
