Both Jim Zahn and I are deeply saddened by the news of John’s passing.
John was so kind to us when we were in the early process of researching
the feasibility to acquire a construction permit and build Channel 59 in the early 1980’s.
He unselfishly gave us his time and counsel which we will never forget. John was at KAIL
at the time and even though we might become friendly competitors should our pursuit become reality that fact never
crossed his mind. He was a wonderful man and great broadcast engineer. He will be sorely missed by all. Rest in peace John.

It is with deep sadness that we have all lost a friend and a true broadcaster in our business. I’ve known John for a long time, though lost touch in recent years. I also had the pleasure of working with Lana at KEZL many years ago. John and I would always tease each other about keeping our 3/4 inch tape decks running.
John was a gentleman of rare distinction. He will be missed. A good man by all measures.
My prayers are with Lana and his family during this most difficult time.

Very sorry to hear about John. He was a special friend to me. He helped me on many occasions when we were having problems with our RCA transmitter on
Bear mountain. He was also kind enough to be on standby for us when I had to leave the area. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
May he rest in peace

If you spoke to John he would turn toward you and really listen. It didn’t matter who you were, old young whatever! This spoke volumes of consideration of others. I also enjoyed his sick sense of humor, but, this speaks volumes of me haha. Loved ya brother in law! RIP

Sending prayers to the Lockhart family. John was a wonderful and kind man. I enjoyed working with him at KSEE24. He always had a smile on his face. May he rest in peace.

John was a bright light at KSEE24. I don’t think I ever saw him in a bad mood. He was a joy to be around, and I always looked forward to seeing his smiling face. One of the nicest people I’ve ever met. My thoughts and prayers to Lana and his family.
