Ken Holden, SBE 66 Chairman

I don’t think I  am exaggerating when I say that the mantra of broadcast engineers today appears to be, LESS is MORE.  Our corporate suits and bean counters have calculated that less staff, equipment, whatever, as long as there is less of it, means more profits.  Don’t ask me what I think of this new normal.  The only thing I seem to have more of are headaches, thanks to the fact that there is less of everything else!  I have a strange feeling no one is noticing that the efficiency graphs are being mistakenly placed upside down on the easels in many broadcasting corporate board rooms.

Another way to have more headaches is when you discover at the last minute that you’ll have one less presenter at your SBE lunch meeting.  Buck Waters of BGS has unfortunately needed to cancel his presentation at the HomeTown Buffet.  We’ll still have lunch, but with one less dog and pony.  Pay as you enter and meet the SBE 66 gang in the banquet room this Thursday the 31st.  I promise we’ll have a great time, more or less.
