Ken Holden, SBE 66 Chairman

Here comes Summer, (one of my favorite 60’s tunes) so let’s get our facilities, studio and transmitter sites ready. The terrible rash of fires lately, have been a reminder to us all that our sites should be trimmed, brushed, and raked clear of grass, plants, and weeds that could ruin our day/career if ignited by fire. They used to say 30′ clearance was safe but now it’s 100′.

A topic for discussion and informational dissemination is the 2Ghz ENG Band. The latest database is old and incorrect. If someone from each station / group that uses the 2Ghz band for ENG work would bring their band usage plan to the meeting, I’ll gather the info and republish the new database for all concerned. We certainly don’t want to step on each other during a multi-station live news event.

Our meeting this month will be at our own Hometown Buffet at Shaw & Peach. In lieu of a formal program, we will entertain heated discussions on any subjects including the 2Ghz local plan mentioned earlier.

Come on out and fellowship with us. As Carl Beckman always says. . .”It’ll be fine!”
See you there.
