Beginning January 2012, all issues of the Central Valley Signal, the monthly newsletter of the Central Valley chapter of SBE will be posted online. Believe it or not, The Signal has been available online at, www.sbe66.org since June of 2001. Thanks to Tim Pozar, Brian Clayton, and Rych Withers for their time and efforts in hosting, posting, and sponsoring the venue. The new updated online only Signal will now be using the wordpress format familiar to many of you. This will allow for many features not available in its present format, either through the mail or via the web. The online newsletter will allow for updates not possible with the hard copy edition. Pictures and Advertisers ads will be in color (we’re still working on HD 3D). You’ll have embedded links to important SBE, FCC, and other information to keep you instantly updated. There will be the ability to post comments when appropriate. No more squinting, as you’ll be able to expand the view to 150% or more. No more searching through the pile of old mail to find the newsletter. Being online only will save our editor time and money in running to and from the printers and post office, inserting, folding, labeling, sealing, and stamping newsletters. It will be a plus for the Central Valley 66 budget as well. Before any discounts (when we can get them), the estimated cost of the current printed newsletter is approximately $140.00 per month. Thanks to our gracious advertisers, many who have been supporting us for years, we’ve been able to bring you one of the few remaining printed newsletters. Rising printing and postage costs in 2012 make the online switch a financially wise decision for SBE 66. We feel our advertisers will still be there to support the venue and will benefit with better visibility and the ability to have subscribers link directly to their websites from the newsletter. Sounds like the classic a win-win situation, and that’s a good thing. While some final details and adjustments are still taking place on the web page, check out, www.sbe66.org Remember, starting in 2012 the web page will be the only place for accessing the Central Valley Signal, as this is the last printed and mailed edition of the Newsletter.
