Fellow Broadcasters and Friends,
Due to recent communications (or mis – communications) I find it necessary to clarify and / or explain both my position and the position of the SBE in regards to field trips such as the one we are planning this August to the Sutro Broadcast facility.
Our meetings, trips, and events are open to anyone that wishes to attend and may have interests in the event similar to our group or Society. We can not and will not attempt to “regulate” attendance at our meetings or events.
Anyone that wishes to attend and wishes to also invite guests are free to do so “at will” and need not obtain permission from any other member to do so. As a group, we do not know who will be interested in participating so we rely on the participants to bring forth others that would benefit both themselves and the group. That is how we interact with our peers as well as the public to further the enjoyment of our great profession and community.
That being said… In regards to our trip to Sutro in August, We do have 57 seats but I have no idea how many are planning to go as we just publicly announced the trip at our meeting last Thursday. Some that were not in attendance missed some important information. Our treasurer, Steve Dresser, will keep the master list of attendees. Both Dennis Thompson and myself can be contacted and we will pass the information to Steve. Steve can be contacted directly as well. Contact information can be found on the SBE66.org website in the newsletters. We have no “break even” point as the price we all pay equally will be determined by the number that attend. We anticipate the cost to be between $30 – $40 per person including lunch.
You all have known me for years and know that I have always had a very positive attitude especially for the SBE and the wonderful fellowship it provides and I just love being around folks of all interests. Any comments to the contrary are unfounded and simply not true.
Let’s have a great trip and Eric Dausman and I are looking forward to a very interesting and informative tour. (Cool lunch too)
